Overview

This half-day bus tour in Luxor takes about 4 to 5 hours and visits key sites on the West Bank of the Nile. The tour begins with a visit to the Valley of the Kings, where several pharaohs including Tutmosis I, Tutmosis III, Tutankhamun, Ramses VI, Merenptah, and Amenhotep II were buried. The guide on the tour is a qualified Egyptologist who provides detailed information about the ancient tombs and their architecture. Next, the tour continues to the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, also called El Dir El Bahari. This temple was built by Hatshepsut, daughter of Thutmosis I, who ruled Egypt for about 20 years during the 18th Dynasty around 1490 to 1469 B.C. She is the only female pharaoh known to have reigned ancient Egypt. The final stop is the Colossi of Memnon, which are two large statues that remain from the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. After visiting these sites, the driver returns participants to their hotel in Luxor. The tour includes private air-conditioned transfers, hotel pickup and drop-off, a bottle of water, and an English-speaking Egyptologist guide. Tickets for the tombs of Tutankhamun, Ramses VI, and Seti I require special admission and are not included.
