This cooking class takes place on a family farm in Chianti known for producing saffron oil, vegetables, and raising chickens. Guests actively participate in preparing traditional recipes using fresh ingredients from the farm. The course lasts about four hours and is hands-on rather than a demonstration. If weather permits, the cooking and lunch happen outdoors with views of vineyards and olive trees; otherwise, activities move indoors to the barn. After cooking, guests eat the meal they prepared together. A vegetarian menu is available upon request. Aprons and recipe books with multiple recipes to recreate at home are provided.
Farm Cooking Class
The cooking class begins around 10:30 AM after introductions and a brief tour of the farm, including the olive grove and saffron field. Participants will learn to make homemade pasta using garden herbs and extra virgin olive oil, including various shapes like tagliatelle and ravioli. Instruction will cover dough preparation for bread and Schiacciata, with multiple recipes from this versatile dough. A full menu will be prepared, featuring appetizers, first and second courses, side dishes, and dessert, accompanied by local wine such as Chianti. Weather permitting, lunch will be served outdoors in the garden overlooking vineyards and olive trees, surrounded by the natural setting of Chianti on a hilltop farm.
