The Hanoi Maya Kitchen Cooking Class and Local Market Tour lasts four hours. It begins with a walk through a local market in Hanoi's Old Quarter, where participants select fresh ingredients needed for the cooking session. After the market visit, the group moves to the Maya Kitchen to prepare four traditional Vietnamese dishes: fried spring rolls, papaya salad, pho rolls, and mixed pho. The class also includes making egg coffee, a well-known local specialty. An English-speaking instructor guides participants through each step of the cooking process. After cooking, participants sit down to eat the meal they have prepared. Seasonal fruits are served for dessert. The session also includes a tasting of local wine and a choice of one drink such as water, tea, or coffee. Recipes for the dishes are provided. MENU Nom Du Du - Papaya Salad Nem Ran - Fried Spring Rolls Pho Cuon - Pho Rolls Pho Tron - Mixed Pho Ca Phe Trung - Egg Coffee Dessert: Seasonal fruits DETAILED ITINERARY Start with a welcome at our office and then head to Yen Thai market, a local market nearby where you can get a glimpse of local life, buy fresh food, and have a better understanding of Vietnamese ingredients plus their substitutes. After visiting the market, head to the kitchen for the cooking class. Your cooking instructor will show you how to make four classic Vietnamese dishes (fried spring rolls, papaya salad, pho rolls, mixed pho) and Vietnamese specialty egg coffee. Our instructor will guide you step by step to make fried spring rolls first. This can be considered our ‘national’ dish for holidays and gathering feasts. It will require the flexibility of your hands to make even and lovely rolls. Then move to papaya salad with the main flavors of sour and sweet. Enjoy meal with all the dishes made by you.
