Overview

This guided hiking tour in Cape Town leads to the summit of Table Mountain using one of two routes: India Venster or Platteklip Gorge. Participants must choose their preferred route at booking. The India Venster route is a rugged and technical trail involving rock scrambling and uneven terrain, taking about three and a half hours. It is less crowded and suited for hikers comfortable with a more challenging climb. The Platteklip Gorge route is more direct and less technical, featuring hundreds of large rock steps, and takes approximately two and a half hours. Both routes require steep uphill hiking on rocky ground and end at the mountain’s summit. After reaching the top, the group descends by cable car if it is operating. If the cable car is closed due to weather or maintenance, the descent is on foot via the Platteklip Gorge route. National Park fees are included in the tour price. Private vehicle transport can be arranged for an additional cost. Participants should bring their own water and snacks, as these are not included. The cable car ticket for the descent is also not included. A basic level of fitness and comfort with heights is necessary. The tour operates in most weather conditions, and appropriate clothing and sturdy walking or hiking shoes are recommended. Children under eight years are not permitted, and those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Hike to the top of Table Mountain and enjoy stunning views of Cape Town from the top. Take the cable car back down. There are 2 route options to choose from: 1. India Venster, a more adventurous, rugged & technical route to the top. Ideal for those looking for a more adventurous and thrilling way to hike up. Involves rugged, uneven terrain and some rock scrambling. More exciting. Less crowded. Duration +-3.5 hours 2. Platteklip Gorge, a more straightforward, less technical route to the top. Ideal for those looking for the most direct way to hike up. Involves hundreds of big rock steps all the way to the top. Duration +-2.5 hours Both routes are not easy and require a few hours of steep uphill hiking on rocky terrain to get to the top. Once at the top of Table Mountain we will take the cable car back down (if open). If the cable car is closed (due to weather/maintenance), we hike back down the most direct route. No previous hiking experience is required. At least a moderate fitness level is required. A private option is available which includes transport and allows for flexible start time with an exclusive guide. Cable car tickets not included.
