Overview

This full-day trip lasting about 12 to 14 hours is conducted by bus with an English-speaking guide. Pickup is provided from hotels in Hanoi's Old Quarter, except for some restricted streets. The journey begins with a 3-hour drive along the highway to Ninh Binh, including one or two comfort stops. The first site visited is Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam from the 11th century, where travelers see King Dinh Temple and the ruins of the old citadel. Next, participants take a two-hour boat ride on the river at either Trang An or Tam Coc (depending on the option chosen). A local rower navigates the boat through caves and past limestone mountains and historical sites along the riverbank. After the boat trip, an optional cycling segment of 15 to 25 minutes is offered around Tam Coc village to observe rural life. The tour then continues to Mua Cave, which includes climbing about 500 steps to reach Ngoa Long mountain for panoramic views of Tam Coc valley. If the Mua Cave ticket was not included in the option selected, it can be purchased directly from the guide or guests can wait outside. A buffet lunch with various Vietnamese dishes is provided during the day. The return trip to Hanoi takes about 3 hours by bus, with drop-off at the original hotel or meeting point by early evening. Optional limousine bus upgrade is available for a more spacious and comfortable ride. Entrance fees are included depending on the selected options.
