by Tours Tasmania
This full-day tour lasts about 11 hours and begins with a 1.5-hour drive from Hobart to Mount Field National Park, one of Tasmania's oldest parks. Visitors spend approximately four hours exploring the park, starting with a walk to Russell Falls, a three-tiered waterfall accessible via an easy forest path. After viewing Russell Falls, the group climbs a set of stairs to Horseshoe Falls nearby. Next is a 30-minute circuit walk on the Tall Trees Track, where giant Swamp Gum trees reach around 80 metres tall. Participants then have the option to complete the full Three Falls Circuit walk, which includes Lady Barron Falls, or return early to the starting point. After the walks, the tour continues with a one-hour visit to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Here, visitors meet native animals such as wombats, Tasmanian devils, and echidnas, and have the opportunity to hand-feed kangaroos while learning from the sanctuary staff. The final stop is the summit of kunanyi/Mt. Wellington at 1271 metres elevation, where wide views across southern Tasmania can be seen. The tour includes entrance fees to Mount Field National Park and Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. It is conducted in small groups led by professional guides who provide interpretive walks. Food and drinks are not included but can be purchased during a lunch stop. Participants should be prepared for active walking and carry only a day pack.
