Overview

The hot air balloon flight lasts about 4 to 8 hours and starts with an optional early morning pickup from lodging in Mexico City at 4:30 AM. The group travels to Teotihuacan, arriving around 5:30 AM at the balloon launch site where a coffee break is offered while the crew prepares the balloon. The flight itself takes off between 6:00 and 6:30 AM, lasting approximately 35 to 45 minutes at an altitude near 10,000 feet. Flight paths depend on wind direction, but about 90% of flights cross over Teotihuacan’s archaeological zone, offering views of the sun pyramid, moon pyramid, and the causeway of the dead. After landing around 7:30 AM, participants join a traditional sparkling wine toast with the pilot and receive a flight certificate. Following the flight, there is time to review photos and drone videos taken during the trip. Around 8:10 AM, the group moves to La Cueva restaurant, located inside a natural cave, where breakfast is served. At about 9:15 AM, the tour visits a local artisans' cooperative for workshops on obsidian and maguey crafts led by expert guides, followed by a tasting of typical drinks from the region. At 10:00 AM, the group proceeds to the Teotihuacan archaeological site, where there is up to two hours to explore. The archaeological zone entrance ticket is not included. The tour returns to Mexico City between 11:00 AM and noon. All times are approximate and may change due to weather or daily logistics. The restaurant’s fixed hours may cause waiting up to 40 minutes.
