This multi-day hiking adventure explores remote locations in the Icelandic Highlands over 12 days. The trip begins with arrival at Keflavík international airport and transfer to Reykjavík, where guests receive a briefing and have a free afternoon before the first overnight in a hostel. The group then travels by modified 4x4 vehicle to Landmannalaugar, a geothermal valley with colorful mountains and lava fields. Two days of hiking on various trails around Landmannalaugar follow, with both nights spent in a mountain hut. Next, the tour moves by 4x4 to Langisjór lake. The day is spent hiking in the Fögrufjöll mountains, with views of the Vatnajökull glacier. That night is also at a mountain hut. The itinerary continues with a hike through Skælingar, a lava field near the Skaftá river, including a hike through Hvanngil canyon beneath Uxatindar mountain, staying again at a mountain hut. On subsequent days, hikes include a descent into the Eldgjá Fire Canyon, visiting the Ófaerufoss waterfall and crossing green fields historically roamed by shepherds. The group then hikes toward the lakes of Álftavötn, staying at a mountain hut in a green hollow for a day of rest or exploration. The longest day involves hiking along a river, crossing a canyon, and possibly bathing in a natural hot spring before reaching another mountain hut. The next day features a 17-kilometer hike to the lake of Álftavatn through open landscapes. Following this, the group hikes through a black desert, crossing several rivers and descending near the Emstrur canyon hut. The tour continues with a hike around Emstrur canyon, crossing glacial moraines and volcanic terrain to reach Thórsmörk valley, where a barbecue dinner is offered if weather permits. After the final night in a mountain hut, the group returns to Reykjavík via 4WD vehicle, concluding the tour. The tour lasts about 12 days (288 hours) and includes all transfers by 4x4 vehicle and accommodation in hostels and mountain huts. Meals are generally not included except where stated. The trip requires a minimum age of 16 years.
