Overview

This boat trip around Ischia lasts about 7 to 8 hours and includes lunch on board featuring traditional Neapolitan dishes. The tour departs from the port of Forio and visits several coastal points around the island. You will have the chance to swim about 4 to 5 times in various coves and sea caves known for their clear waters and natural beauty. The route begins by sailing past the Chiesa del Soccorso, a white church overlooking the sea with a mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture. The first stop is Baia di Citara, where guests can enjoy bruschetta with local tomatoes and basil along with wine. The boat continues toward Punta Imperatore lighthouse, notable for its history and views. Along the way, the boat passes the thermal bay of Sorgeto, known for its natural hot seawater. There is a swim stop at Sant'Angelo village, famous for its pedestrian-only center and tuff islet called "la Torre." Another swim break happens at Spiaggia dei Maronti, where volcanic fumaroles and an ancient thermal spa called Cavascura are located. If conditions permit, the tour stops at La Scarrupata, a high rocky coast with colorful geological layers and clear waters. Lunch is served near San Pancrazio, where guests may visit the Green Grotto cave that glows green underwater. The tour continues by passing Cartaromana beach with views of the Aragonese Castle, which can be visited by boat. Additional stops include Spiaggia degli Inglesi, a pebble beach used as a landing point in WWII; the Fungo di Lacco Ameno, a mushroom-shaped rock formation; Madonna di Zaro, a mountainous area known for reported Marian apparitions; and Spiaggia di San Francesco, a beach near Forio with calm emerald waters. The tour ends sailing back to Forio port. On board refreshments include carbonated drinks, bottled water, tea, and coffee. Restrooms are available on the boat. Itinerary

1

Chiesa del Soccorso

The tour starts from Forio port, passing the Chiesa del Soccorso, a white church overlooking the sea. Its facade blends Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles. Inside, the church has a nave with three chapels, several vault types, and a small Gothic bell tower. Notable is the "Cristo di Legno" statue inside.

2

Spiaggia di Citara

The first stop is Baia di Citara, where guests can enjoy bruschetta with local tomatoes and basil, accompanied by wine. The bay is linked to myths involving Venus and Ulysses, with the Pietra della Nave rock said to be a legendary galley.

20 min

3

Belvedere Punta Imperatore

The boat approaches Punta Imperatore lighthouse on a rocky headland in Forio facing the open sea where waves break strongly on the rocks. The lighthouse dates back to the 1930s and is known for Lucia Capuano, who at 30 years old and with seven children, became the first female lighthouse keeper after her husband's death during the war. Her story represents female emancipation at a time when women were mainly mothers and housewives.

4

Baia di Sorgeto

The boat passes close to Sorgeto Bay, a small inlet between rocks overhanging the sea. The bay is known as a free natural thermal park open 24 hours a day all year round. Volcanic activity causes thermal waters to emerge at about 90°C from the sea bed, mixing with sea water to create a natural thalassotherapy effect. The bay is sheltered from winds, allowing peaceful swimming for most of the day.

5

Sentiero Serrara Fontana a Sant’Angelo

Another stop is near the village of Sant'Angelo, part of Serrara Fontana municipality. This pedestrian-only village features narrow alleys, a church, a tourist port, a square, and the tufaceous islet called "la Torre" connected by a narrow land bridge.

20 min

6

Spiaggia dei Maronti

At Maronti beach, guests can swim near fumaroles caused by geothermal activity where thermal waters reach nearly 100°C. The area includes Cavascura, an ancient thermal basin offering mud treatments, massages, and thermal showers.

20 min

7

La Scarrupata

The boat may stop at La Scarrupata, a high rocky coast with layered geology in ocher yellow to purple red colors. The emerald seabeds have posidonia meadows. This area is hard to reach on foot and is often visited by sea.

20 min

8

San Pancrazio

Lunch is served near San Pancrazio, where guests can visit the Green Grotto cave accessed by diving underwater. The cave glows green due to light effects. The lunch location and cave visit may change depending on weather.

60 min

9

La Spiaggia e la Baia di Cartaromana

The boat continues toward Cartaromana beach, known for fine sand, clear water, and views of Aragonese Castle. The beach features natural hot baths from hydrothermal activity and has an underwater archaeological and faunal site.

10

Castello Aragonese

The Aragonese Castle is on a tidal islet of trachytic rock connected by a 220 m masonry bridge to Ischia Ponte village. The islet formed over 300,000 years ago and rises 113 meters above sea level, covering about 56,000 m². The castle was built in the mid-fifteenth century and is accessed through a tunnel dug into the rock; before that, access was only by sea.

20 min

11

Spiaggia degli Inglesi

The tour visits the English Beach near Casamicciola-Ischia port. This small volcanic beach has pebbles and dark sand, sheltered by cliffs. It was used by British forces as a landing point in WWII. The beach is accessible by a cobblestone path marked by bougainvillea.

20 min

12

Fungo Di Lacco Ameno

Guests see the Fungo di Ischia, a mushroom-shaped green tuff rock about 10 meters high off the coast of Lacco Ameno. Formed by volcanic eruption from Mount Epomeo, it was shaped by wind and sea over time. The nearby town has historical sites including churches and a museum.

13

Madonna Di Zaro

The boat passes the mountainous Zaro coast near Forio, known for luxury homes and religious significance. Since 1994, locals report Marian apparitions and pilgrimages occur here. The apparition site is near two rocks where prayer groups formed after sightings.

14

Spiaggia di San Francesco

Before returning to Forio port, the boat stops at San Francesco beach. This beach lies between Punta Caruso cliff and the town of Forio, known for its calm emerald waters and small fish colonies around reefs and a sea cave.

20 min
