Overview

Jerusalem presents a landscape of historic and religious sites concentrated within its ancient walls. This full-day boutique bus tour from Tel Aviv lasts about nine hours and includes pickup and drop-off at designated meeting points. The group is small and led by a licensed guide who focuses on the historical aspects rather than religious teachings. The tour begins with a bus ride to Jerusalem during which the guide explains the history of Israel and the Hebrew people. Upon arrival, the group visits the Mount of Olives to see the city from above, then walks down to the olive gardens of Gethsemane and the nearby Basilica of the Agony, also known as the Church of All Nations. Next, the tour continues on foot through the four quarters of Jerusalem’s Old City, passing through the Arab market (Shuq) and visiting key sites such as the Western Wall, the Temple Mount with the Dome of the Rock, and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The Temple Mount visit is included except on Fridays, Saturdays, and religious holidays when access is restricted. Lunch is taken at a restaurant with a rooftop view of these landmarks, and there is an option to visit a souvenir shop or the Tomb of Jesus during this break. Within the Old City, the tour visits several chapels including the Chapels of the Crucifixion and Golgotha, as well as the Stone of Anointment and the Tomb of Jesus, although entry to the Tomb itself is not included to avoid long waiting times. Participants wishing to enter the Tomb can go earlier and meet the guide afterward. The route also includes stops in the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim quarters, walking through markets and historic streets. The tour does not include food, drinks, or lunch, and participants need to follow a dress code for places of worship. The pace involves significant walking, so participants should be physically fit and able to walk without difficulty.
