by Dive Kauai
This 4-hour guided scuba dive tour on Kauai's south shore is for certified divers only. The dive includes two tank dives at a "U" shaped reef where divers explore both sides of the formation. Water depth ranges from about 27 to 45 feet, with easy entry and exit points. Before each dive, a detailed marine ecology briefing is provided to explain the underwater environment. Between dives, there is a surface interval featuring snacks and beverages. The guide also shares local history, legends, and lore related to the dive site. Included in the tour are bottled water, full scuba equipment use, the guided dives, snacks, and the ecology briefings. Gratuities and trip protection are not included.
Hanaka’ape Bay Shore Dive
Located in the sheltered Hanaka’ape Bay, this shore dive site is protected from wind, surf, and chop. The dive begins just a few steps from the ramp, with only a short surface swim needed, and all gear set up nearby for ease. The horseshoe-shaped bay offers two separate dive areas ideal for a two-tank dive. Divers can reach depths of about 50 feet and typically spend around 45 minutes underwater, depending on air consumption. Common sightings include several tropical fish species, Hawaiian green sea turtles, as well as up to seven types of moray eels including the uncommon dragon eel, plus various invertebrates such as cone, auger, and helmet snails, shrimp, sea stars, urchins, octopus, hermit crabs, and leaf and devil scorpionfish.
