Overview

Begin your workshop by crafting the blade of your replica sword. Use zinc alloy, a material commonly used for replica swords, and experience the casting process by pouring the metal into a mold and watching it cool and harden into the shape of a blade. Next, choose the exterior parts of your sword, including the scabbard, hilt, and cord. Select from a variety of colors and patterns to create a unique combination. As you assemble your sword, learn about the different parts and their functions. While crafting your sword, learn about the historical context of the Haitorei Edict, understand how this edict transformed the role of swords from everyday weapons to art pieces and cultural symbols. Once your sword is complete, take it home as a unique souvenir of your time in Japan.
