Overview

The Kyoto Tea Ceremony at Camellia Flower Teahouse lasts 45 minutes and is led by English-speaking tea instructors. The ceremony takes place inside the Camellia Flower Teahouse, where guests are provided with all necessary utensils, including tea bowls, tea scoops, and tea whisks, to prepare their own bowl of Matcha green tea. The session begins with an introduction to the tea-making process, followed by step-by-step guidance on preparing Matcha. Guests are encouraged to ask questions about the tea ceremony and Japanese tea culture throughout the experience. The teahouse offers chairs and tables for guests who find sitting on the floor difficult. All sweets served during the ceremony are vegan, nut-free, and gluten-free. Photography is permitted during the ceremony, but flash photography is not allowed and guests should be considerate of others. Kimono rental is available upon request for an additional fee, but wearing a kimono is not required. Children under six years old are not allowed to participate in either shared or private ceremonies.
