Overview

This 1-hour boat tour on Lake Austin follows a route past several local landmarks during sunset. The licensed captain meets guests at the boat docks located between Quince Lakehouse and Hula Hut, not inside the restaurants. The cruise begins by passing Mozart’s Coffee Roasters, a well-known lakeside café famous for its holiday light displays and freshly roasted coffee, where the captain shares stories about the area. The boat then moves past Hula Hut, a lakeside restaurant with Tiki-style décor and lively atmosphere, located a short walk from Walsh boat landing. Next, the tour continues toward Mount Bonnell, one of Austin’s highest points. Visitors can see expansive views of downtown, the Colorado River, and the Hill Country from the top, reached by historic stone steps. The route also passes the Holdsworth Center, a 44-acre lakeside campus dedicated to educational leadership, noted for its environmentally sensitive design and natural surroundings. The boat cruises by the Austin Country Club, established in 1899, with its scenic golf course and clubhouse formerly hosting a PGA Tour event. The tour continues past Bull Creek, known for clear water, waterfalls, and limestone formations, offering natural scenery close to the city. The final highlight is the Pennybacker Bridge (also called the 360 Bridge), recognized for its rust-colored steel arch that spans Lake Austin and blends with the Texas landscape. Throughout the cruise, guests can bring their own beverages (BYOB) and use the boat’s Bluetooth or AUX connection to play their own music. Cushioned seating, a cooler with ice, and bottled water are provided. The captain handles all navigation and operations, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the views and live music from nearby Ski Shores Café.
