by Hightide Kayak School
This guided kayak tour takes place on the turquoise waters of Lake Brienz in Interlaken, Switzerland. The total duration is three hours, including about two hours spent paddling on the lake. Participants use high-quality sea kayaks and paddles provided for the tour. The route passes along calm waters bordered by towering cliffs and forested hillsides. Groups are small, ranging from two to six people, and led by an expert sea kayak coach who offers instruction and guidance throughout the tour. A digital photo package documenting the outing is included. No previous kayaking experience is required, but participants must be able to handle a kayak independently. Children under 12 years old are not permitted. The tour requires physical ability to control the kayak alone. Participants should arrive five minutes before the scheduled start time and are advised to bring a swimsuit, change of clothes, waterproof footwear, sunglasses, sun hat, sunscreen, water, and snacks.
Launch at Bönigen
The tour begins at Hightide's base in Bönigen, where participants paddle across Lake Brienz's turquoise waters. The route follows the north shore, featuring sunbaked cliffs rising directly from the water, a 12th-century castle above Ringgenberg, and small beaches along the shoreline. The pace is relaxed with stops for photos and rests, totaling about two hours on the water. Evening tours follow the same path, offering a calm atmosphere as the sun sets behind the hills above Interlaken. No prior experience is necessary, and non-swimmers may join. A 1.5-hour taster option is available for those with limited time.
