Overview

The Lancaster Amish Experience Visit-In-Person 3-Hour Tour begins with boarding a 14-passenger bus that transports guests between three Amish properties. The first stop is an Amish farm where visitors enter the barn to observe the milking process. Guests learn that the Amish do not milk cows by hand and see how milk is cooled in a bulk tank powered by "Amish electricity." Other farm activities may also be shown. The second stop is at an Amish home-based business where artisans create items such as furniture, gazebos, quilts, farm equipment, or baskets. A craftsman typically demonstrates their skills during this visit. The final stop is at an Amish family's home, reached by traveling rural backroads. Visitors sit and talk informally with the family in a setting without modern electronics like TVs or smartphones, providing a chance for direct personal contact with Amish residents. The entire tour lasts about three hours and includes transportation between locations and a local guide. Food and drinks are not provided. Photography of the Amish hosts is not allowed. Children under six are not permitted, and respectful dress is required. Guests should check in at the theater box office in the east parking lot at least 15 minutes before the tour. Pets are not allowed.
