by Let's make kimono Kimono is a gift for you
This 90-minute cultural workshop in Tokyo begins by guiding participants through making a kimono adapted from vintage designs. The kimono is altered into two pieces to remove the traditional "Ohashiyori" fold, allowing even taller people to wear vintage kimonos that were originally sized for smaller frames. The kimono fabrics are mostly silk and handmade, with some vintage pieces featuring detailed patterns that would typically be expensive. Participants can choose either a basic kimono without extra charge or opt for more detailed versions at additional cost. The rental of Obiage, Obijime, and Obi is included at no extra charge, with options to purchase available. Japanese sandals and tabi socks are not included in the workshop.
Kimono Rental and Customization
This place won the Gold Award at the Omotenashi Selection, chosen by foreigners living in Japan. Obi is available for free rental and purchase, as are Obiage, Obijime, and Obi pillows. For women's kimono, customers select a kimono, with upgrades costing JYP 2,000 to 6,000, customize it to their size, learn how to wear it, and have a photo taken. For men's kimono, customers choose a set including haori and kimono with an extra fee of JYP 2,000, print their name in Kanji with a color choice, iron it on, and have a photo taken. Note that the kimonos are vintage and may have some stains. For children's kimono, girls' kimonos sometimes require no adjustment and can be worn without cutting, while boys' kimonos allow printing the name in Japanese on the collar.
