Overview

This four-hour walking tour of Lima’s historic center includes visits to street food spots, a market, and old eateries. The tour starts at Plaza San Martin in front of the Gran Hotel Bolivar with about thirty-five minutes of sightseeing. Next, participants stop at a nearby bar to try tamal with emoliente and a shot of pisco. The group then walks along Jiron de La Union, a main commercial street, for about fifteen minutes. Afterward, the tour continues to Mercado Central, Lima’s largest market, where guests spend around thirty minutes tasting local fruits and learning about Peru’s biodiversity. When open, the tour includes a ten to fifteen-minute visit to San Francisco Basilica to see its architecture. The final stop is Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor), where participants spend about ten minutes taking photos of the plaza and surrounding historic buildings. The tour includes a local guide, all food, snacks, beverages, and dinner. Transportation and pickup are not included.
