Overview

This full-day tour lasts about 10 and a half hours and explores Litchfield National Park and nearby wetlands from Darwin. Travel in an air-conditioned mini-coach with a guide who provides commentary throughout the trip. The tour begins with a 30-minute drive from Darwin to the park, which is known for tropical rainforest areas that offer a cooler environment. The first main stop is at Adelaide River, where guests can choose between an optional Jumping Crocodile Cruise or visiting Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve. Fogg Dam is managed with input from the Limilngan-Wulna people and hosts a variety of native wildlife including birds, turtles, water pythons, and saltwater crocodiles. At Litchfield National Park, the tour includes visits to several natural features. There is a 45-minute stop at the park’s waterfalls, followed by an hour at Florence Falls, which features plunge pools within monsoon forest. If Florence Falls is inaccessible, the group may visit Tolmer Falls instead. The tour continues with an hour at Buley Rockhole or Wangi Falls, where visitors can cool off in shallow pools. Finally, there is a 30-minute visit to the century-old Magnetic Termite Mounds within the park. The tour includes pickup and drop-off at selected locations in Darwin’s inner city, wildlife sightings in natural habitats, and commentary from an accredited outback driver-guide. Meals are not included, but guests can purchase lunch locally. The optional crocodile cruise is an additional cost. The tour requires moderate fitness due to walking at waterfall sites and has limited storage for small day bags only.
