Overview

The Scottish Highlands stretch across northern Scotland, offering vast landscapes and historic sites. This full-day bus tour from Edinburgh lasts about 12 hours and covers key Highland locations. The journey starts with a drive past Stirling Castle and through the Trossachs National Park, known as Rob Roy country. There is a comfort stop in Callander, a small Highland town. The tour continues over Rannoch Moor to Glencoe, where visitors stop for about 20 minutes to see the location of the 1692 massacre. After passing Fort William and viewing Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain, the route follows the Great Glen to Fort Augustus on Loch Ness. Here, travelers have roughly 100 minutes to choose between an optional 50-minute boat cruise on Loch Ness, walking, or relaxing by the Caledonian Canal. Returning south, the tour passes Loch Laggan and crosses Drumochter Pass in Cairngorms National Park before stopping in Pitlochry or a similar town in Perthshire for 30 minutes. The final leg passes the Forth Bridge on the way back to Edinburgh. Included are air-conditioned transport and a local English-speaking guide. The boat cruise on Loch Ness is optional and can be purchased at check-in. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included.
