Overview

This three-hour walking tour in downtown Louisville covers the Prohibition era through stories of phantoms, cocktails, and small bites. The tour begins with a cocktail at a speakeasy hidden beneath Whiskey Row, where the guide explains the secret bars of the 1920s. The group then walks past the Old Forester Distillery, hearing about local hauntings linked to the area, before stopping at a nearby pub for small bites and a bourbon cocktail. Along the route, the guide shares stories about Louisville’s connections to F. Scott Fitzgerald, the bootlegger who inspired The Great Gatsby, and mobster Al Capone’s activities in the city. At Fourth Street Live!, the tour discusses a murder victim said to haunt a nearby hotel. Next, the group visits a Prohibition-era speakeasy and a 1920s-style bowling alley to enjoy a Jazz Age cocktail and snacks. The guide also tells ghost stories related to a historic jail, alongside accounts of bootleggers, temperance supporters, and distillers active during Prohibition. The final stop offers views of Louisville’s skyline with a last drink and dessert. The walk covers about 1.5 miles and is suitable for all fitness levels. Included are knowledgeable guides, ghost stories featuring phantoms, Prohibition-era cocktails with mocktail options, and small bites served at several locations.
