Overview

This whitewater rafting trip on the Lower New River in West Virginia lasts about five hours and includes a professional guide and lunch. The group size on each raft is limited to eight guests with a minimum of two people per booking. Participants begin at Adventures on the Gorge, where they receive a safety briefing and gear including a personal flotation device, helmet, and paddle. A 30-minute bus ride follows to the river put-in. The rafting starts with smaller rapids rated class I to III, allowing the group to get comfortable paddling and coordinating. The trip then moves on to larger rapids rated class IV and V. Around halfway through, the group stops for a deli-style lunch on the riverbank. After lunch, the raft continues downstream through more rapids between class III and V, passing through the heart of the New River Gorge. Between rapids, there are opportunities to swim, float, and possibly jump from rocks depending on water levels. The trip concludes just beyond the New River Gorge Bridge. All taxes, fees, lunch, and beverages are included, while gratuities and optional souvenir photos or DVDs are not.
