Overview

This small-group bus tour lasts about eight hours and covers the west side of Madeira, focusing on waterfalls, coastal views, and forest landscapes. The group size is limited to 15 people for a more personal experience with a professional local guide. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included for locations in Funchal, Canico, and Camara de Lobos, and the vehicle has air conditioning. The tour starts at the fishing village of Câmara de Lobos, where the guide will point out the harbor and the area Winston Churchill once painted. Next, the group visits Cabo Girão, Europe’s highest sea cliff at 580 meters, where views over Camara de Lobos and Funchal can be enjoyed; access to the Cabo Girão Skywalk is optional. Then the tour continues to Ribeira Brava, where you will see the 16th-century mother church with Flemish artwork and a Manueline baptism fountain, plus the São Bento fort on the seaside promenade. A coffee break is possible here. Afterward, the tour stops in Ponta do Sol, known as one of Madeira’s sunniest spots with a small village surrounded by banana plants. Then the group climbs to the Fanal Forest on Madeira’s mountain plateau. This forest has 600-year-old trees with twisted branches, often shrouded in mist. Weather permitting, there is an optional 15-minute walk through the laurel trees. The next main stop is Porto Moniz, reached by a zigzag road, where natural sea pools are the highlight. There is time to walk along the promenade and visit local restaurants offering seafood and traditional dishes. Leaving Porto Moniz, the tour travels the north coast route through Seixal village and stops at Miradouro do Véu da Noiva to view the famous Brides Veil waterfall. The final stops include São Vicente, a small town with narrow streets and a 17th-century mother church, and Serra de Água, where you will see a variety of Madeira’s mountain peaks before returning. Food, drinks, gratuities, and entrance fees are not included.
