The Magaliesberg Mountains in North West South Africa are over 2,400 million years old and provide the setting for this canopy tour through Ysterhout Kloof. The tour includes crossing 11 platforms built high on the rock faces, connected by 10 slides that reach lengths up to 140 meters and heights up to 30 meters above the stream below. The entire activity lasts about two hours. Participants receive safety equipment and transport to the zipline course. Trained guides oversee the tour and share information about the mountain’s geology, ecology, and local wildlife. An innovative sliding chair called Lettie allows wheelchair users to join the canopy tour. The location is about a 90-minute drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria, situated between Hartebeespoort and Rustenburg in the Magaliesberg Biosphere Reserve. Hotel pickup is not included. A DVD of the tour is available for purchase but not included in the price. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the tour.
