Overview

This whole day tour from Manaus lasts about 12 hours and begins around 8 am with a one-hour drive west to Balneario Cachoeira do Castanho near Castanho lake. From there, participants board a motorized canoe to reach the jungle area. A guided hike of two to three hours follows, focusing on Amazonian plants, jungle survival skills, and the local environment. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed due to the dense forest and mostly small animals. After the hike, the group visits a platform dedicated to the protection and research of pink river dolphins. Visitors can learn about these animals and swim with them, so bringing swimwear and towels is necessary. Lunch is served next at a floating house and typically includes fish or chicken, rice, beans, manioc flour, and vegetables. Special dietary requests cannot be accommodated. In the afternoon, a boat ride takes place through flooded forests during the wet season or small canals during the dry season. During this ride, participants can fish for piranhas at suitable spots. Later, the group moves to a location to watch the sunset. After sunset, a night search for nocturnal animals such as caymans occurs. Guests may bring a flashlight for better viewing. The group departs around 7:30 pm and returns to Manaus by approximately 8:30 pm. Included are lunch, bottled water, and air conditioning during vehicle travel. For the jungle hike, long pants, closed-toed shoes, a raincoat, and insect repellent are recommended. For the boat rides, a hat, raincoat, sunscreen, and insect repellent are advised.
