by Mandurah Cruises
Passengers board the boat in central Mandurah to begin a half-day cruise lasting about four and a half hours on the Murray River and surrounding waterways. The journey covers Mandurah city canals, Peel Inlet, and the Murray River while guests enjoy a buffet lunch with desserts and complimentary tea, coffee, and snacks. A licensed bar is available on deck. The cruise includes live commentary from a local guide who provides information about the river’s history and natural environment. Guests will have opportunities to see local wildlife such as birds and dolphins. The boat passes the Creery Wetlands Nature Reserve, known for its birdlife, where antipasto is served. The tour stops at Cooleenup Island, accessible only by boat, where passengers disembark for a guided or self-guided 30-minute walk to Cooper’s Mill. This restored wind-driven mill is one of the last European settler buildings in the Peel region. The route continues across the Peel-Harvey estuary, home to resident dolphins and varied bird species. The cruise also passes residential islands along the Murray River, North Yunderup with historic homes, and Mandurah’s Eastern Foreshore Park with its distinctive Waugal-shaped wall. On-board restrooms are available throughout the trip. All guests must be able to move independently on the vessel, including boarding and moving around safely during small waves.
