This small-group snorkeling tour lasts about one hour and takes place near Kailua-Kona on Hawaii’s Big Island. Groups have a maximum of 12 people, which helps the guides assist each participant and move freely in the water to find the manta rays. The boat ride to the manta ray site takes only a few minutes each way, maximizing snorkeling time with the manta rays. The tour is conducted aboard Wa'a Kini Kini, a historically accurate Hawaiian double-hulled canoe operated by Eka Canoe Adventures. Snorkelers use flotation devices, wetsuit tops for warmth, and snorkel gear including prescription masks if needed. Participants must be able to swim and climb a short ladder to enter the water. Manta rays are wild animals and are not fed or trained, so their presence cannot be guaranteed. If manta rays are not seen, the operator offers a Manta Ray Guarantee allowing a return to snorkel on another evening or future visit, subject to availability. This nighttime snorkeling activity does not include tea, coffee, snacks, towels, transportation, crew gratuity, or motion sickness medication. Guests are advised that the tour is not recommended for those with recent surgery or mobility restrictions. Height and weight are collected during booking solely to determine wetsuit size. Participants are encouraged to opt-in for text reminders with information about parking and check-in on the day of the tour.
