by Cancun Food Tours
Cancun offers a 4-hour cooking class that teaches how to prepare a traditional 4-course Mexican meal. The session begins with a visit to a local market, led by a chef-guide who explains the selection of fresh ingredients including herbs, vegetables, meat, and seafood. While walking through the market, participants also see piñata shops, a tortilla factory where corn flour is transformed into tortillas, pottery, clothing, and souvenir stands. After gathering ingredients, the class moves to the kitchen where traditional Mexican tools such as the molcajete (stone mortar), comal (flat griddle), and clay pots are used to prepare the dishes. The lesson covers classic recipes, cooking methods, and kitchen techniques used in Mexican gastronomy. At the end of the class, participants enjoy the meal they prepared, which includes drinks such as carbonated beverages, tea, coffee, and alcoholic options. Air conditioning is provided during any in-vehicle transport included in the experience.
