Coastal Expeditions Check-in and Gear Fitting

Upon arrival at Coastal Expeditions, guides fit each participant with kayaking gear and provide a safety briefing along with basic sea kayak instruction. Once on the water, the group takes a few minutes to adjust before paddling toward Shem Creek and Charleston Harbor. The tour will return here at the end.

This section of Shem Creek features shrimp boats, oyster-lined marshes, seafood restaurants, and views of Charleston Harbor and the city skyline. Bottlenose dolphins frequently swim close to the kayaks and may breach nearby. In summer, manatees and loggerhead turtles are occasionally seen.
