Overview

Experience the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Japan's Hida region on this tour. You'll take a highway bus (with the help of an English-speaking assistant) to the Shirakawago bus terminal where you'll meet your guide. The Shirakawago and Gokayama regions are UNESCO world heritage sites, known for their picturesque gassho zukuri farmhouses, some of which are over 250 years old. These traditional structures feature steep, thatched roofs that resemble the hands of Buddhist monks pressed together in prayer. Takayama, a city in the Hida region, boasts a beautifully preserved old town with a traditional charm. During the spring and autumn, the Takayama Festival is held, considered one of Japan's best festivals. Winter offers stunning snowy scenery while summer provides lush greenery
