Overview

Narusawa Ice Cave is a natural lava cave with a total length of approximately 153m, formed by the great eruption of Mt. Fuji in 864 (Jogan 6). It is a mysterious spot created by the nature of Mt. Fuji, designated as a national natural monument. The average temperature inside the cave is low, about 3℃, allowing visitors to enjoy a cool space even in midsummer. Inside the cave, unique landforms created by lava flows and ice pillars can be seen, and by proceeding through steep stairs and low-ceilinged areas, one can experience something akin to cave exploration. It also has a history of being used as a natural refrigerator to store ice, and even now, ice pillars that remain even in summer can be observed up close inside the cave. Experience the natural formations and mysterious atmosphere created by Mt. Fuji's volcanic activity near the eastern edge of Aokigahara Jukai.
