Overview

The National Anzac Centre General Entry Ticket in Albany provides access to the National Anzac Centre and all buildings within the Princess Royal Fortress, a heritage-listed coastal defense site. The National Anzac Centre is located on the harbor where over 41,000 Australian service men and women departed for World War I in 1914. Visitors follow the stories of 32 actual service members through multimedia displays, interactive technology, and historical artifacts. The exhibition traces their journey from recruitment, training, and embarkation, through ship-board life, and battles at Gallipoli, the Middle East, and the Western Front. It also covers the return home and the challenges veterans faced reintegrating into society. After visiting the National Anzac Centre, visitors can explore the fortress’s large coastal guns, bunkers, and fortifications, which are among Australia’s oldest military structures. The surrounding 260-hectare natural reserve offers walking and mountain bike trails, historic cultural sites, wildflower viewing, whale watching, as well as shopping and dining options. Visitors should allow between one and four hours to see both the National Anzac Centre and the Princess Royal Fortress, or about two hours if only visiting the centre. Free parking is available on site. Transportation, food, drinks, and guided tours are not included.
