Overview

This 8-hour bus tour covers the main sights of Naxos, focusing especially on the northern part of the island where narrow roads make self-driving difficult. The tour includes a visit to the Temple of Demeter, where visitors pay an entrance fee and explore both the temple and its museum with a guide. On Tuesdays, when the temple is closed, the tour visits Bazeos Tower, a 16th-century former monastery now serving as a cultural center. The itinerary continues with a walk through a village center to see a traditional olive press and a live pottery demonstration, where visitors learn about the local sfouni clay cup. Then the group visits Chalkio, a neoclassical village, to see its historical center, citron distillery (with tasting), and several art galleries. Next is the marble village, known for its cobbled streets and museums covering geology, art, folklore, and natural history. Visitors have free time here to explore on their own. On most days, a lunch break is taken in this village, but on certain days lunch is held elsewhere. The tour then stops at Apollon, the northernmost village, where guests can swim, have coffee and dessert, or walk around before the lunch break on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Finally, the tour visits Apollonas Kouros, home to a large (10.5 m) ancient statue lying on the ground, accessed by climbing 56 steps. Air conditioning is included on the bus. Entrance fees, gratuities, and the citron distillery fee are not included.
