Overview

The tour begins at the meeting point next to the P3 sign in Hohenschwangau village, where the guide welcomes guests. After a short introduction, participants board a bus that takes them up to Mary’s Bridge, provided the shuttle service is operating and the bridge is open. Here, travelers can pause to take photographs of the surrounding scenery. From Mary’s Bridge, the group walks to Neuschwanstein Castle, the residence built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria between 1869 and 1886, which inspired the Disney castle design. Inside the castle, the guide leads a skip-the-line visit, explaining the history of the castle and the life of King Ludwig II. After the interior tour, guests descend by horse-drawn carriage from the castle’s base down to Hohenschwangau village. Visitors have time to explore the area around Lake Alpsee before the tour concludes. The entire experience lasts just over three hours and includes local taxes and all transportation during the tour except hotel transfers. The guide handles all ticket arrangements to avoid waiting in line.

Schloss Neuschwanstein

The main part of the tour lasts about three hours and includes a guided visit to Neuschwanstein Castle. The group first takes a shuttle bus to Mary’s Bridge, if available, to photograph the area. Then participants walk to the castle for a skip-the-line guided tour inside. The guide provides information about King Ludwig II of Bavaria, who ruled from 1864 to 1886, and the castle’s construction between 1869 and 1886. After the castle tour, the group rides a horse-drawn carriage downhill to Hohenschwangau village. Visitors can also walk around Lake Alpsee nearby. During winter months, Mary’s Bridge may be closed for safety reasons, and the group will walk up to the castle instead.
