This night kayaking tour in Fajardo, Puerto Rico takes place in Laguna Grande, a bioluminescent bay. Participants paddle double kayaks equipped with backrests, paddles, and lifejackets through mangrove channels leading into the bay. The tour lasts about 90 minutes on the water. Guides may use a tarp to block out light to improve visibility of the bioluminescent glow, which appears as sparkles around the kayak. Visibility depends on natural conditions. Snacks are included. Solo paddlers and groups with an odd number of participants will be paired to share kayaks. Participants should wear quick-drying clothing and water shoes or sandals, as they will get wet. Sargassum seaweed may sometimes be present and has a noticeable odor. Children under 6 years old are not permitted. Children aged 6 to 14 must kayak in tandem with an adult, and participants aged 15 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult on the tour. There is a weight limit of 225 pounds (102 kg) per person, which is checked before boarding. During busy periods, kayak traffic may be close, but guides manage safety throughout the tour.
