Overview

The tour begins with a pick-up from hotels in the Hanoi Old Quarter between 7:00 and 7:45 am, excluding some restricted streets. The group travels by air-conditioned bus for about three hours to Ninh Binh province, with one or two stops at a cafe and shopping mall for approximately 25 minutes to refresh, have coffee or breakfast, and shop if desired. Upon arrival, participants choose to visit either Hoa Lu ancient citadel, the first capital of Vietnam from the 11th century, including King Dinh Temple and citadel ruins, or Bai Dinh Pagoda, the largest pagoda in Indochina with large statues. Next, there is an optional two-hour boat trip on the river at Trang An or Tam Coc, both recognized as World Heritage sites, where local boatmen row through caves and past riverside historic sites. The tour continues with a visit to Mua Caves, where a hike up 500 steps leads to a viewpoint overlooking Tam Coc valley and a small waterfall nearby. A buffet lunch with various Vietnamese dishes is included. An English-speaking licensed guide accompanies the group throughout the day. The return trip to Hanoi takes about three hours by air-conditioned bus, with drop-off at the original hotel or a designated meeting point between 7:00 and 7:30 pm. Bottled water is provided on the bus. Entrance fees for the selected options are included. Vegetarian meal options are available upon request at booking.
