Overview

This small-group day trip from Hanoi takes you to Quang Phu Cau Incense Village, known for its traditional incense-making craft. You travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with a maximum of 9 travelers. After pickup in the Old Quarter early in the morning, you spend about 1 hour 15 minutes in the village photographing the drying incense sticks and watching local artisans at work. You also visit local homes to learn about the daily life of villagers and receive information about Vietnamese worship and religious customs. Next, the tour continues to Ninh Binh province, where you have lunch at a local restaurant serving Vietnamese cuisine. After lunch, you take a 1.5-hour sampan boat ride along the river at Tam Coc, often called "Halong Bay on land," where you pass under caves and see limestone mountains and surrounding rice fields. Following the boat trip, you visit Hoa Lu, the ancient Vietnamese capital, and walk to the King’s temple to learn about Vietnam’s history. The tour ends with a return to central Hanoi in the early evening. The tour includes pickup and drop-off in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, lunch, all entrance fees, bottled water (three per person), and an English-speaking local guide who provides commentary throughout the day.
