This full-day bus tour lasting about 6 to 8 hours covers northern and western Qatar starting from Doha. The route begins at Al Khor, a historic harbor 50 kilometers north of Doha, once central to Qatar’s pearling industry. Visitors have 30 minutes to see the harbor, traditional fishing dhows, a corniche, mangrove colonies, and a museum about fishing and pearling. Next is a 30-minute stop at Al Thakhira Beach, where the mangrove colony serves as a natural habitat for birds and fish and helps prevent coastal erosion. Then the tour continues to Purple Island (Al Khor Island) for 30 minutes, known for its natural environment and diverse plant and animal life. The bus proceeds to Al Zubarah Fort for an hour. This UNESCO World Heritage site in northwest Qatar stands beside ruins of an ancient fort and was once a busy port for trade, fishing, and pearling. Afterwards, there is a 30-minute visit to Al Jumail, an old pearling and fishing village offering insight into Qatar’s history. The tour continues with a 40-minute visit to the remains of Zekreet Fort, a historic site that was constructed in two distinct phases.
