Overview

This 4- to 5-hour bus tour visits the northern region of Qatar, highlighting key cultural and historical sites. The trip begins at Al Zubarah Fort on the northwest coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site and important archaeological area. The fort stands near the remains of an ancient settlement that was once a busy port known for trade, fishing, and pearling. Archaeologists continue excavations here, and many artifacts are displayed inside the restored fort. Next, the tour stops at Al Jumail, an old fishing and pearling village with traditional limestone and mud houses. This stop offers insight into Qatar’s local heritage and historical way of life. On clear days, it is possible to see Bahrain from the surrounding area. The final stop is a desert site just north of Al Zubarah featuring an art installation by Olafur Eliasson.
