Overview

This Northern Lights tour lasts about 4 hours and departs from Reykjavik in a specially equipped 4x4 super jeep. After pickup from your Reykjavik location, the guide drives you away from city lights onto gravel and mountain roads to reach the best viewing areas in Iceland’s countryside. The group size is limited to 16, allowing a more personal experience. Your guide monitors weather conditions and selects the ideal spot to watch the aurora. While waiting, you can use provided blankets and hand warmers to stay comfortable. Complimentary hot chocolate and Icelandic chocolate treats are served to keep you warm. The guide takes photos of the Northern Lights so you can keep your own images. The tour focuses on quiet rural locations around 60 miles from Reykjavik to maximize your chances of seeing the aurora. After the viewing, the guide drives you back to your original pickup location in Reykjavik. If the Northern Lights are not visible or the tour is canceled due to weather, you can rebook a minibus tour free of charge within three years. The tour requires warm, waterproof clothing and good hiking shoes, and involves some walking on uneven terrain.
