Overview

This full-day bus tour from New Orleans lasts about 8 hours and combines a visit to Oak Alley Plantation with an airboat swamp tour. At Oak Alley, you will explore the 1837 Greek Revival plantation house and walk the quarter-mile path lined with 28 large oak trees leading to the house. The plantation grounds also include a blacksmith shop, restaurant, cafe, gift shop, and antique farm equipment. You will have about one hour of free time to explore the plantation grounds as you wish. After the plantation visit, the tour continues with a high-speed airboat ride through the nearby Barataria Preserve swamp. The airboat seats 6 to 9 passengers with stadium-style seating to provide unobstructed views. The local captain guides the tour, alternating between fast-paced travel and slower stops for photos. Wildlife, including alligators, can often be seen up close, though sightings are not guaranteed, especially during winter months. The tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off, and a driver/guide is provided throughout.
