Overview

This walking tour begins by taking a short bicycle rickshaw ride before starting on foot through Old Delhi’s narrow lanes. The guide, a historian, leads the group to Jama Masjid, a 400-year-old mosque built by Emperor Shahjahan. Entry to Jama Masjid is optional and requires an additional fee; visitors who choose not to enter can take photos outside and continue the walk. Next, the tour visits Naughara, a historic neighborhood once home to Mughal goldsmiths known for their stone-inlaid jewelry. Participants can observe the jewelry-making process and photograph the heritage mansions called havelis. The route then moves to Pasar Chandni Chowk, a busy street known for wedding clothes and local street food. Finally, the walk reaches Khari Baoli, Asia’s largest spice market, where visitors see large spice bags and can visit a spice depot to learn about different spices and buy high-quality spice or tea samples. The tour lasts about 3 to 4 hours and includes the bicycle rickshaw ride, walking with a historian guide, and, if selected, entry fees for Jama Masjid and hotel pickup and drop-off.
