Pre-trip notice: On the evening before your trip, between approximately 19:00 and 21:00, we will send you detailed guide and vehicle information via email. Please be sure to check it promptly. Today we will visit a total of 4 attractions: Shirahige Shrine on Lake Biwa, Lake Biwa Observation Deck or Sanzen-in Temple, Mangetsu-ji Ukimido, and La Collina Omihachiman. A fulfilling itinerary starts now. - First stop: Shirahige Shrine on Lake Biwa, one of the oldest shrines in Omi Province. The shrine is famous for its unique torii gate in the water, which appears like a mysterious gate floating on the lake. In the early morning or at dusk, the lake is calm, and the torii gate and the water complement each other, forming a beautiful picture. - Second stop: Lake Biwa Observation Deck (visiting from May 1, 2026, to October 31, 2026). The scenery here is superb, as if the sky and the lake are connected in a single line. Standing on the observation deck at an altitude of 1,100 meters, you can enjoy a 360-degree unobstructed panoramic view of the entire Lake Biwa, and the beautiful scenery is intoxicating. It is an excellent spot for taking photos and checking in. The Lake Biwa Observation Deck package (5000 JPY/person, including round-trip cable car, chairlift, and Lake Biwa Terrace admission ticket) is not included. Sanzen-in Temple (visiting from November 1, 2026, to April 30, 2027) is an ancient Tendai sect temple, beautiful as a painting with spring cherry blossoms, summer hydrangeas, autumn foliage, and winter snow. The temple grounds are covered with moss, ancient trees reach to the sky, and the Jizo stone statues are adorable. Sunlight filters through the branches, creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere. Enjoy matcha and the scenery, and experience the beauty of Zen. - Third stop: Mangetsu-ji Ukimido, standing on the shore of Lake Biwa, is an important part of "Katata no Rakugan," one of the "Eight Views of Omi." - Fourth stop: La Collina Omihachiman cleverly blends natural beauty with the art of sweets. The "Grass Root House" in the garden, with its lush green turf roof, echoes the surrounding hills, expressing architect Terunobu Fujimori's reverence for nature. You can also observe the Baumkuchen making process. It is a hidden gem that brings peace and healing to the soul. Each of these attractions has its unique characteristics, making up a Kyoto & Shiga day trip. Whether it's natural beauty or cultural experiences, you will gain many wonderful memories. Come and join us to explore the charm of Kyoto and share this joy.
