The Outlander 1-Day Tour explores filming locations in and around Edinburgh used in the popular TV series. The tour lasts about eight hours and travels by coach with a trained driver/guide. Next, the group stops in the Royal Burgh of Culross for about an hour to see the village of Cranesmuir, including the Mercat Cross and locations connected to key scenes from season 1 and season 4. An optional visit to Doune Castle is available, known as Castle Leoch in the series and also featured in other films and shows. The tour continues to Linlithgow Palace, where visitors can explore the ruins used as Wentworth Prison in Outlander, notable as the place where Jamie was imprisoned and tortured. Linlithgow town offers various choices for lunch nearby. The final main stop is Midhope Castle, a 16th-century tower house that represented Lallybroch, Jamie Fraser’s home. Visitors can take photos outside the castle, though entry inside is not permitted. On the return trip to Edinburgh, the coach passes the Forth Bridge, providing views of the famous structure. The tour includes city centre drop-offs but does not cover entrance fees, food, drinks, or gratuities. Midhope Castle is available only from March to November with some dates in December. Occasionally, Blackness Castle may replace Doune Castle.
