Overview

The tour begins with check-in at Flamenco Marina, located on the last island of the Amador Causeway near the Panama sign and behind the Duty Free Shop. The exact check-in time will be confirmed by email the day before the tour. After boarding a motor coach, passengers travel about 45 minutes to Gamboa, where the Panama Canal Dredging Division is located. From Gamboa, passengers board the M/V Pacific Queen to start the partial transit of the Panama Canal in the southbound direction. The vessel departs from the north end of the Gaillard Cut, a channel carved through the Continental Divide. While traveling south, the boat passes under the Centennial Bridge, which spans the canal. Next, the vessel enters the Pedro Miguel Locks, one of the two lock sets on the Pacific side. After passing through these locks, the boat crosses Miraflores Lake, an artificial freshwater lake between Pedro Miguel and Miraflores Locks. The final lock on the Pacific side is Miraflores Locks. Once through Miraflores Locks, the vessel enters the Pacific Ocean. The M/V Pacific Queen offers both open and air-conditioned decks for passenger comfort. Passengers may visit the open bridge to meet Captain Claudio and the Panama Canal pilot. The tour lasts about six hours and includes lunch, sodas, and water. Alcoholic beverages are not included. After exiting into the Pacific Ocean, the boat returns to Flamenco Marina, where the tour ends.
