by Peony Cruises
The Peony Cruise offers a unique 3-day and 2-night trip through Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay aboard a medium-sized boat with 20 cabins. The cruise covers a long route across Lan Ha Bay, known for its green waters and many islands, providing a less touristy experience. Guests can enjoy views from the cruise deck, the restaurant’s large windows, the big window and private balcony of their cabin, and even from the bathtub in the cabin restroom. All meals are included, prepared by experienced chefs with international backgrounds, featuring carefully designed menus. Activities included on board are kayaking, swimming, cooking classes, and tai chi sessions. All entrance fees to the sites visited during the cruise are covered. Transfers between Hanoi and Halong are not included, nor are drinks or personal expenses.
Lan Ha Bay - Tra Bau Area
Lan Ha Bay consists of about 300 karst islands and limestone formations located southeast of Cat Ba Island. It is a geological continuation of Halong Bay but is less frequented and less populated, offering a quieter environment. The Tra Bau area is surrounded by jagged karst hills that form a bay-like shape. This area remains largely untouched and is considered one of the safest anchorages for ships due to protection from strong winds by the surrounding hills. Most cruises in Lan Ha Bay anchor here overnight.
Cat Ba Island
Cat Ba Island is the largest among the 367 islands in the Cat Ba archipelago. It lies about 32 miles (50 kilometers) from Hai Phong City, reachable in up to 1 hour by speedboat. It is also the biggest island within the entire Halong Bay region. A portion of Cat Ba Island and the archipelago is designated as a National Park aimed at conserving its biodiversity. The island features diverse landscapes including mangroves, limestone karsts, forests, white sand beaches, and coral reefs.
Viet Hai Village
Viet Hai village, located in Cat Ba within Hai Phong province, is set amid limestone mountains, clear seas, lush forests, and diverse wildlife. This less explored village provides a quiet and authentic experience away from common tourist routes. It offers visitors a peaceful retreat combined with opportunities for adventure.

Trung Trang Cave
Located on Cat Ba Island, Trung Trang Cave ranks among the biggest caves within the Cat Ba archipelago, included in the UNESCO Ha Long Bay Biosphere Reserve. It is a notable site on the island. Visiting in early November, before the peak tourist season, offers a chance to explore without other visitors. The cave involves climbing numerous steps but remains easy to reach and is suggested for those staying on Cat Ba Island.
