Overview

This walking tour lasts about one and a half hours and covers more than 15 historic sites in Philadelphia's Old City. The guide is the company's founder, a former stand-up comedian and history teacher, who shares historical facts with humor. The tour begins with a visit to the Betsy Ross House courtyard, where participants spend about seven minutes. Next, the group walks to Elfreth's Alley, the oldest continuously inhabited street in the original American colonies, with a stop of around ten minutes. The tour continues past the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, once the longest suspension bridge in the world. A stop at Christ Church, known as the Church of the Revolution, lasts about seven minutes; admission is by donation. The route includes the B. Free Franklin Post Office, the first post office in America, with a five-minute stop. Carpenters' Hall is also included, with about seven minutes spent there; admission is by donation and subject to visitor discretion. The tour visits the Second Bank of the United States, featuring a presidential portrait gallery maintained by the parks department, with a fifteen-minute stop. The Liberty Bell is a highlight, with a fifteen-minute visit to see the most famous bell in America. The final stop is Independence Hall, where the guide explains its role in the Revolutionary War and the founding of the nation during a ten-minute visit. The tour includes photo stops at more than ten sites but does not include museum admission fees. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
