Book on Viator Confirmed right away, but you pay full price.€92.40This walking tour of Pompeii lasts about two hours and includes an express skip-the-line ticket for quick entry to the Archaeological Park. The meeting point is 15 minutes before the scheduled time at the operator's office on the first floor of the Circumvesuviana Pompei Scavi villa dei Misteri station, located at Via Villa dei Misteri 1, roughly 100 meters from Porta Marina Superiore entrance. The tour begins at Porta Marina Superiore and is led by a certified archaeologist guide. It covers key locations such as the Foro di Pompeya, the main square that served as the city’s political, economic, and religious center. You will also visit the Macellum, the city's meat and fish market, where frescoes depicting Roman food from the 1st century AD are visible. Next, the tour includes the Terme del Foro, a bath complex behind the Temple of Jupiter that covers around 410 square meters. Both male and female sections have separate entrances. The baths were supplied by the Serino aqueduct, with an additional well for water shortage. The original ceilings with stucco decorations remain intact, and the calidarium pool is made of marble with a mosaic floor. You will also see Casa del Fauno, one of Pompeii’s largest aristocratic homes, featuring a replica of the Alexander Mosaic (the original is at the Mann museum). The Casa dei Vettii is another stop, a Roman house buried during the eruption and uncovered by excavations, known for its 1st-century Roman art and a room with erotic paintings thought to belong to a resident prostitute. The tour continues along Via dell’Abbondanza, a main street linking the city’s major areas including the Foro, Stabian Baths, theaters, Isis Temple, and amphitheater. Finally, the guide will show the Thermopolium Regio VI, Insula VIII, 8, which served as an ancient fast-food spot where hot food was sold to take away. The tour includes a map and headsets for groups larger than 15 people. Parking, transport, food or drinks, and the extra ticket for the Villa of Mysteries are not included. Note that the route involves uneven ground and is not suitable for those with walking disabilities or wheelchair users.
