Overview

This two-hour walking tour through Pompeii takes visitors around the ancient Roman city buried by volcanic ash in 79 AD. The tour begins at the main entrance called Porta Marina Superiore, where the guide waits with a sign showing the company name Askos Tours. A maximum of 20 people join each group, and headsets are provided for groups of 16 or more to hear the archaeologist clearly. The guide leads the group through the main square, the Foro de Pompeya, then to the Basilica, which served as the courthouse. The tour continues to the Lupanar, the city's brothel, followed by a visit to the ancient granaries. Visitors then see the House of Menander and the House of the Faun, two important private residences. Next are the Stabian Baths (Terme Stabiane), the ancient public baths still visible today. The route continues along Via dell'Abbondanza, one of the main streets, and stops at the Thermopolium, an ancient eatery. The group also visits the theatre and finishes at the House of Vettii. The archaeologist explains how the Romans lived in both public and private areas of the city throughout the tour. The Pompeii admission fee is included, but transportation and food or drinks are not provided.
