Overview

This private day trip starts with a flight from Cairo to Luxor, known for its vast collection of ancient monuments from Thebes. A representative picks you up from your hotel in Cairo or Giza in the late afternoon and transfers you to Cairo International Airport for the flight to Luxor, included in the package. On arrival in Luxor, you will be taken to a hotel to rest until early morning when the hot air balloon company collects you for a sunrise flight over Luxor’s historical sites. A breakfast box is provided to take with you on the balloon. The balloon ride gives you an aerial view of the city and surrounding temple complexes. After the balloon ride, the tour continues on the West Bank where you visit the Valley of the Kings to see tombs of pharaohs like Merneptah, Ramesses III, and Ramesses VI. Next is the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, dedicated to the female ruler who reigned for 20 years. Then you visit Medinet Habu, the burial temple of Ramses III, notable for its large entrance and reliefs of the pharaoh punishing prisoners. The nearby Colossi of Memnon, two large stone statues, mark the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. A local restaurant provides lunch. In the afternoon, you sail on a traditional felucca boat on the Nile for about 45 minutes, enjoying views en route to Karnak Temple. At Karnak, your Egyptologist guide explains the history of the temple complex, which is among the largest in the world. After the temple visit, you return by felucca to Luxor Temple, where you can watch the sunset on the Nile. Luxor Temple was originally built by Amenhotep III and completed by Ramses II. After the day’s sightseeing, you transfer back to Luxor International Airport for the flight to Cairo. Upon arrival, you will be driven back to your hotel in Cairo or Giza. The tour includes a private Egyptologist guide, all private transport, domestic flights, hotel accommodation with breakfast, lunch in Luxor, the hot air balloon ride, a felucca boat ride, and all service charges and taxes. Entrance fees to historical sites are not included. The hot air balloon ride depends on weather and aviation approval; if canceled, a refund for that portion is given.
